MEGA JUNE UPDATE

PREPRODUCTION NEWS - MINISODES:
Summer is Finally here! It has been a very long winter and it feels good to finally get some warmth, isn't it? It also means that we can resume shooting with temperatures more suitable for our heroes that are latex clad.  Preproduction is now underway for the Wild Rose, Terra Nova, Mantis (not latex clad but still... It is set in North Korea) and Borealis.

We want to also congratulate John Albert (pictured below with Hornet and Mantis), who purchased not one but two (!) set visits on the Wild Rose and Mantis shoot.  John had previously participated on the Jackpot set visit and even earned himself a cameo in the episode, alongside Dominic Walsh!  They both did a pretty good job: look for them on the Jackpot Episode: Dominic get stabbed and John gets a bullet in the head right after... Look for more fans cameos and other cool surprises in the upcoming episodes...

CONVENTION SEASON IS OVER! FOR NOW...

We had a busy spring attending tons of conventions.  It was exhausting but also very rewarding but we are glad it is finally over so we can enjoy some weekends...  The last convention we did was Niagara Falls.  It was a first for us and it was lots of fun.  Definitely one we will keep an eye on.

Our Mini Comics are a popular section of our Members section.  It allows us to feature short stories in the Heroes of the North universe drawn by up and coming Canadian talents.  The latest one is a Black Terror tale called Winging It! by Yann Brouillette & Jono Doiron with Colours by Aljosa Tomic, and it is one of those tales where Black Terror awakes from his drug induced trips to find himself in odd situations.

We are a bit behind on the mini comics release due to the conventions but we are back on track and we will make up for lost time!  Thank you for your understanding!  You guys are the best!

8 Ball by Donald Caron - FINAL VERSION

flexible 8 Ball by Donald Caron

8 Ball dispatches a serial killer as ruthlessly as he did his victims in this gruesomely awesome new piece by Donald Caron! Apparently they were not the inspiration but the serial killer looks a bit like George Carlin and the female victim reminds us a lot of Lauren Cohan from the Walking Dead!

8 Ball by Donald Caron Sneak Peek

flexible 8 Ball illustration Teaser 1

Illustrator extraordinaire Donald Caron has been hard at work for quite some time on an 8 Ball illustration based on a concept by Andy Bradshaw (8 Ball himself!). This is but a fraction of the final image, on which Donald is still toiling over. Makes you wonder where the hell 8 Ball has set his feet into this time around.... And no, it is not a crossover with the Walking Dead...

LONG OVERDUE UPDATE

flexible Free Comic Book Day La Boite à BD cover by Brad Coffey

Hey everyone!

Long time no talk!

We have been incredibly busy behind the scenes trying to overcome several challenges on many fronts. It has been a while since we put out one of those “keeping you up to date” posts but here it is:

PRODUCTION: Completing the financing for the show for one has proven to be much harder than anticipated. Location hunting - especially finding a suitable studio at a price we can afford - has also proved to be much more difficult and it is causing delays in production of the minisodes. We are trying to iron out the issues and we hope to resume a stable release of episodes soon. We will make it up to you by producing two more minisodes, one involving 8 Ball and a mysterious new character as well as TERRA NOVA episode. Meanwhile everyone is hard at work prepping for the moment they will called...

Hornet by Donald Caron

Hornet Comic Book Cover by Donald Caron

Donald Caron has done it again! This fantastic wrap around cover set piece features the deadly Hornet, captured in feral action, as she breaks inside the Flowers Industries weapons factory. One of the hardest illustrations he ever had to make apparently. But we cannot tell by looking at it! It is simply astonishing!

The attention to details in Donald’s work is simply astonishing! His
Heroes of the North illustrations are simply out of this world!

This illustration will grace the print cover of the
Hornet comic. We will also make a limited amount of prints, which you will be able to procure in the STORE.

The Hornet Comic Book is written by Yann Brouillette, with pencils and inks by MAS, Colours and lettering by Keiren Smith. Digital Version cover by Dean Yeagle and Print cover by Donald Caron.

Hornet is played by Marie-Claude Bourbonnais.

Please do not hesitate to like this and tweet it as well below. Comments are always welcome. We need to spread this far and wide. Local talents like Donald do not get enough of the recognition they deserve! Thank you!

This is the long awaited cover by Montreal Illustrator Donald Caron for the upcoming Crimson Comic book. It perfectly captures the lethal and raw nature of the character origins. Not to mention it has a very Frazetta feel. Another epic illustration for the books! You can also check it out in our artist Gallery.

Hornet Comic Sneak Peek

The Hornet comic is coming and it is a nice one yet again! Written by Yann Brouillette, illustrated by MAS and coloured by a mysterious guest colourist, the story tells us of the origins of Hortense Netter, CEO of Medusa Industries but better known around these parts as the mysterious assassin known as Hornet. What deep and dark secrets does she conceal? A couple of weeks of wait are still necessary to find out. But to wet your appetite, here’s a sneak peek. But take our word for it, this one is worth the wait!

Pacifica Roughs by Michael Dooney

For the upcoming print version of the Pacifica comic (written by Yann Brouillette with Art by MAS and lettering by Keiren Smith), we have asked artist Michael Dooney (of Teenage Ninja Turtles fame) to render his version of the speedy Vancouverite. Another artist we met at the Orlando MegaCon, Michael just sent us the pencils for the piece. We just have to say that it looks stunning. Enjoy! Pacifica is played by Alexandra Ordolis - look for her in Episode 16.

Heroes of the North, Archie Style!

You cannot be a fan of superhero comics and not be at least remotely aware of Archie Comics. Heck, our old pal Archie Andrews even had a run-in with the Punisher, no less! So to have a rendition of some of the HOTN characters Archie-style was definitely a no-brainer.

Dan Parent, writer and illustrator of several Archie Comics books, and more specifically creator of Kevin Keller, the first openly gay character in Riverdale, has agreed to do a cover for an upcoming comic book currently entitled Zombots getting schooled by Yann Brouillette. We met the groundbreaking writer and artist at the MegaCON in Orlando this March and we must say that it has been an absolute pleasure to collaborate with the man, not to mention his Canadian (and more specifically Quebec) Connection.

The fun-filled cover is ready and features The Canadian, Fleur-de-Lys and Nordik. It is our pleasure to show it to you in all its glory:

Love_Bites_by_Daniel_Parentweb

The comic will not be online for a little while however as we have to release a Fleur-de-Lys and a Hornet story before that but you can also view the piece in higher resolution from our newly revamped Galleries or procure it from our store as a reproduction.

Pacifica Inks

Here is a sneak peek at a couple of inked pages from the upcoming Pacifica: Origins comic book written by Yann Brouillette and penciled and inked by Marcus MAS Smith. This is one of the lightest stories in tone so far in the Heroes of the North universe and is a breath of fresh air in our admittedly dark cycle of comics. We cannot wait to show you the whole story which will come out some time during the month of May. Keep an eye out for our Newsletter (or sign up if you have not already!) for more info on the release date of both the comic and Episode 17, which will introduce Pacifica and the lovely Alexandra Ordolis, who plays the Vancouver superheroine in the live action episodes.

The Pacifica: Origins comic is coming soon, in preparation for episode 17 which will relate some of her adventures in Quebec later this spring. We have a few layout pages for those interested. Obviously this is not final art, just the basic layouts that the artist does to shape the flow of the story. Art by MAS and script by Yann Brouillette. Pacifica is played by Alexandra Ordolis in the live action show.

Crimson Comic now online!

The Crimson comic book written by Yann and Michel Brouillette, penciled by Marcus Smith aka MAS, with a cover by Armando Huerta for the online version and a cover by Donald Caron for the print version (Available later), is now online. The character of Crimson is interpreted by model Bianca Beauchamp in the series. WARNING: This is an extremely harsh story and it will offend some readers. Discretion is strongly advised. We recommend however that people who can stomach it read it BEFORE watching Episode 12. It will give a lot more depth to the content of that episode.
